Specialty Oncology Nurses provide specialist nursing care, counseling and support for patients and their families with specific types of cancer.
TBCC's department of Nuclear Medicine is equipped with a PET-CT scanner, a SPECT-CT scanner and six radio-iodine targeted therapy treatment rooms. it also houses an 18MeV Cyclotron, the only one in Borneo capable of producing radioactive FDG18 which is used in PET/CT scanner for staging and determining the progress of cancer treatment. In addition, TBCC's Department of Radiotherapy is also equipped with two new state-of-the-art linear accelerators namely Varian Trubeam and Varian Edge, a brachytherapy equipment, a CT-simulator and 3D treatment planning system. The Varian Edge in TBCC is the first such inaccuracy machine in Asia with the capability to perform stereotactic radio surgery and stereotactic body radiotherapy.
TBCC actively participates in clinical studies and international multicentre clinical trials, findings of which are presented regularly in International Oncology Conferences. TBCC also participates in teaching of undergraduate and post-graduate medical students from the Penginran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Science, University Brunei Darussalam.
In 2016, TBCC has seen more than 10,000 patient visits in their outpatient clinic. Patients have since shared their success stories which include cancers that are now in complete or partial revision following care at TBCC.
